Research was done in regards to forming a non-land based golf club that would be a member of the Carolina Golf Association (CGA).  Affiliate membership to the CGA is open to any organized group in North Carolina or South Carolina, which does not operate regularly at a regulation golf course. It must be a permanent club composed of at least 25 individual dues-paying members who are admitted by a committee chosen by members (by invitation only). The club manages its own affairs through officers and committees it selects.  The club has formed a handicap committee to ensure that the USGA Handicap System requirements are being followed properly for SGC sanctioned events. The club allows its members a reasonable and regular opportunity to play with each other for sanctioned events, skins games and other formats.

The following are some benefits to consider in becoming a SGC Member:


- USGA-approved CGA handicaps throughout the year.  (this is for any golf course played, not just in the Carolinas)

- a program of championship tournaments to determine the best Carolinas amateurs, seniors, juniors and other categories of top-caliber players.  (this is for legal residents of the Carolinas only)

- a series of one-day tournaments for players of all skill levels at top Carolina courses. The CGA conducts more than 50 handicap tournaments per year for men and women.  (this is for legal residents and non-residents of the Carolinas)
   
- the opportunity to attend a CGA rules slide presentation developed for the average golfer

- answers to questions about the Rules of Golf, Amateur Status and Amateur Reinstatement
 
- "Carolina Fairways", the official magazine of the CGA, a quarterly publication with a mix of news, service, information and entertainment for the serious amateur golfer in the Carolinas. "Carolina Fairways" is mailed directly to the homes of members of CGA clubs
 
-  membership includes a contact list for golfers in your area  

 

-  early registration for the Myrtle Beach Invitational Tournament

-  Sutton Golf Club membership would provide a means to participate in charity events as an organization 

-  discount rates at select golf courses

Annual Membership Dues are $50.00 per person.  As stated earlier, membership is by invitation only.  There are annual meetings to elect officers and all members are encouraged to attend these meetings.
